Position:  Youth Pastor  

Summary:

Genesis Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC is now accepting resumes for the full-time salaried position of Youth Pastor.  We are seeking someone who is Christ-centered, experienced, demonstrates an ability to work with families and connect with youth, and can communicate the Word of God to youth effectively. The Youth Pastor will lead children (ages 0-11), youth (ages12-17), and young adults (ages 18-25) of the church to a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ and mentor them in Christian discipleship.  The Youth Pastor, a vital component of the pastoral team and the program staff of the Church, will provide oversight of all ministries relating to the youth while maintaining positive working relations with adults assisting in these ministries.  The Youth Pastor will work collaboratively with the other circle leaders in fulfilling the mission of the church. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.   Oversee and coordinate all ministry programs dealing with children, youth, and young adults at Genesis Baptist  Church in a manner that is congruent with the church’s purpose, covenant, and guiding principles.  It is understood that classes for the Sunday School and Bible School for these age groups are under the oversight of the Enrichment for  Christian Living Circle.

2.   Plans and leads services/revivals with input from children, youth, and young adults within the church.

3.   Recruit and develop members from the congregation to become effective leaders and models for children, youth, and young adults in the church.

4.   Visit children, youth, young adults, and their families at home or in school when needed.

5.   Engage parents and/or guardians of children, youth, and young adults in the church and community.     

6.   Participate in workshops, conferences, reading of literature, and/or networking with other youth ministers to develop effective ways to minister to children, youth, and young adults.     

7.   Develop a calendar of planned activities for children, youth, and young adults.

8.   Train and lead children, youth, and young adults in evangelistic outreach in the community through special ministries (i.e. lock-ins, field trips, service projects, etc.).

9.   Work with ministry leaders as a team player to coordinate children, youth, and young adult involvement with other ministries in the church.

10. Set annual objectives and two to three year goals with the Youth and Village Council.

11. Perform other duties as directed by the Pastor that are congruent with the church’s purpose and vision.

12. Facilitate inter-generational conversation and learning experiences whereby children, youth, and young adults can learn from and teach middle-aged and senior adults within and beyond the church.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least two years of experience or equivalent in working with youth and adult leaders in a Christian environment
• Ordained Baptist minister

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

• Seminary training
• Office and administrative experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access

Salary:

The salary will be determined based upon the candidates' education, experience, and the final parameters of the position.
